On 29-30 April 2016 the Recruitment Meeting of the UNDEF-funded Project Incubator was held in Kalay and thus the programme of support for leaders of local NGOs could eventually get off the ground. The event gathered the representatives of the Agency for Basic Community Development, Polish and Estonian experts as well as twenty five members of Chin civil society organizations.
They were brought together to talk about the upcoming two years of cooperation, so the agenda of the meeting, opened by the speeches of Maung John, the head of the ABC, U Lal Thawng Thang, Chin Affairs Minister, included a detailed presentation of the future actions and goals to be achieved.
Apart from that, participants could ask organizers questions about the project and discuss the issues of concern to them. Finally, the meeting provided an opportunity for the invited organizations to introduce themselves in a public forum while the candidates for the Incubator Training could talk about the local problems which they chose as a starting point for their project proposals to be further developed under the Incubatorâs team supervision. The latter item had the formula of individual meetings with the Board of Trustees which not only evaluated the produced project ideas but also gave suggestions and advice on the next stages of work.
As a result of the kick-off event in Kalay, 25 successful candidates were selected as Incubator trainees, a plan of action for the approaching months was drawn up, initial tasks were allocated and, last but not least, participants broke the ice during discussions and informal conversations.
