Overall objective or goal

The project's objective is to build capacity, simulate praxis, rural cross-sectoral local partnerships for regional & local products registration (GIs), its food chains & culinary heritage, embracing community NGOs, LA (Local Authorities),farmers, tourist sector in MD (C?l?ra?i) and GE (Kakheti), drawing on the best V4 practices and inti.DCFTA aux. agreements. It involves both LA &NGOs from GE/MD, NGOs from V4; Add., 2 NGOs from BY, ARM are to learn from V4/EaP (no current DCFTA prospect)

Specific objective(s)

Project is designed to be max. beneficial for GE and MD: locally-scoped, it takes due account of needs & legislation in GE and MD. Focused on tangible outcomes, the action builds capacity of GE and MD local NGOs and LAs to serve the member base/constituencies and simulate partnerships (NGOs-LAs), thus adding to its overall sustainability. The presence of BY and AM NGOs provides an opportunity to share practical knowledge of V4/EaP for its potential implementation. The project draws on relevant GE/MD reg. on GIs/Geographic Indicators (approximated to acquis) and EU-Georgia and EU-Moldova Agreements on GIs, which makes V4 know-how 100% relevant. Lack of bottom-up capacity in terms of registration/promotion of local & regional products/LRP is evident:so far the majority of GE/MD LRP (both wine and non-wine) were registered by the Ministries, despite favourable legal environment (all public & private bodies can do so) & governmental encouragement. There are binding agreements with the EU which will take on deeper significance after DCFTA ratif. Since the existing instruments are hardly used, the whole process of the GE/MD legal approx with the EU is often perceived as technical/no tangible benefits for ordinary people, esp. of rural areas. The project is building NGOs/LA LRP registration consortia, along praxis, ready to use registration documentations and practical user guidebook, for 4 LRP: 2 MD/2 GE; No intermediation: all EaP NGOs partners have individual farmers as members (even BY): it enhances genuine member Application (21370157-563175) - International Visegrad Fund http://applications.visegradfund.org/Print.aspx?print 4 z 14 2013-12-09 09:16 serving cap; NGOs from MD/GE operate on selected LAs areas; LAs from GE/MD shoved interest in project, since 2012; LRPs in focus defined: GE: dedas puri/reg. bread, green fig jam; MD: dry rose jam, walnuts in balsamic.
